GJW insurance

Ironic that only yesterday I gave a five star recommendation (as requested by GJW) and today I received my renewal notification-

It was £352.47 last year and this year with no changes or claims £502.51.

I think I'll be on the phone shopping around today!
HKJ came back with £451 so whilst an additional £100 increase really winds me up, it's better that £150 increase.

I did call GJW to see if there was a possibility and it was a flat 'No' followed up by a very well rehearsed explanation about "Having done a very full and intense review of all our policies and services provided.............etc"

I had Noble marine insurance which despite no claims doubled this year. I changed to GJW which was roughly half.

We’re all going around in circles….which is ridiculous. I just wish the insurance industry wouldn’t force us to play this merry go round by just keep renewal premiums competitive and not assume that inertia will mean punters will pay uncompetitive renewal premiums and remain loyal. At least that’s how it seems to me.

That just about sums it up, GEM. The same applies to other types of insurance too. I've just renewed travel insurance and got a 15% discount just for asking. Same with car insurance, give them a call, ask what they can do for a loyal (or new!) customer and you might get a pleasant surprise. No harm asking.

Yup - just got £50 off my house insurance by “asking” 😃

My household insurance has just come in from £458 up to £605
Reduced by £50 when I asked. When I challenged them that their website said from £155 but was not working & I could not get into my account either the woman said it was a software issue that they were looking in to. She would not budge on price
I tried another insurer & got a better deal which included a better sum for my workshop & e bikes plus personal liability away from home
That cost me £305

Have a look at Visicover, you can check everything out online.
I took a look at Visicover. Protracted set of questions, such as the year of manufacture of a dinghy that came with a really old yacht (no idea!)... or why my boat has gone up in value over 4 years ('macroeconomics' was not one of the options).

After an hour I gave up... I'm wondering if they ever manage to attract any customers at all...

I’d never heard of them till I read this thread. I’m looking at a boat tomorrow with a view to purchase and wanted to get a quote. Our current boat is with GJW, hopefully I can shift it before the renewal in February.

I managed to get a basic quote in about two minutes, when I went to add the further detail after clicking through it all got a little painful.

It was £200 cheaper than I was expecting so assuming the cover offered is good it might be worth pursuing.
