Helping a mate take his boat to La Coruna end of May. Made some enquiries at travel agents about getting back. Options seem to be:
Fly from La Coruna to Paris then Bristol
Fly from Santiago to Stanstead (RyanAir)
Ferry from Bilbao or Santander to Plymouth - but how do I get to these ports from Coruna?
How do I get to Santiago?
Is there a direct flight from Coruna to UK (south west preferably)?
My problem is time. I only have a 9 day window to sail and get back. Is that enough? My return dates will be June 4th or 5th.

Any ideas or thoughts?

There is a direct bus from La Coruña(leaves from the Hotel Atlantico, NOT from the busstation) to Santiago Airport a few times a day, but usually they do not connect properly to the flights to London (Iberia flies to Heathrow and RyanAir starts in April their flights to Stansted) There are frequent buses from La Coruña(bus-station) to Santiago(bus-station) and also frequent buses from there to the airport.
I suggest you consider going to Sada in stead of to La Coruña. Sada is more quiet, quite big, and well protected. The incoming and outgoing fishingboats can cause damage to the yachts in the old marina in Coruña. The new harbour, more in the center of the city, is probably OK. I seem to remember that the marina in Sada has a website. There are frequent buses from Sada to La Coruña and maybe also directly to Santiago. Sada is appr. 20 km from La Coruña.

I did a similar trip a few years back and caught the train from Coruna to Madrid

The train must have been a 12hr trip but a fantastic and very memorable trip.

The other alternative, and when I did it the train fare was much less ( cash strapped then!) was Coruna to Lisbon.

Plenty of flts from both MAD and LIS

There's a very good train service to Santiago, but you can get good current information from the tourist office next to the main harbour, 2mins from the marina. Its on the road that runs beside the inner harbour, in the central island between the two carraigeways.
Sham you dont have longer, its a lovely town. Dont forget your Tuna gear for some good fresh fish on the way across.

I agrree about the train-service, but unfortanetely, the train station in Santiago is quite far from the bus-station. In my opinion the train is no real option, if you want to go to the airport, but it is OK for going to Santiago, which in itself deserves a visit.
