German Flag

Must admitt this is getting more complicated than I thought it would be. Our previous boat we had Gibraltar registered (had to set up a gib company) and it was quite some work. Two years ago I did this German registartion and was surprised how simple it was, but then yes I'm currently resident in Germany...

So maybe banana flags are the answer after all: Money instead of red tape.

Wondering why our firend doean't want the Italian flag. VAT seems completely decoupled from the flag issue.

I should change flag from German to Italian.

What is wrong with italian flag ?

I have to make the change
All safety equipment has to be changed to be Italy approved...
Around 1000 euro taxes per year
A cumbersome set of rules to be observed (yearly compass check, every two years overhauling of the safety tender.....)
Worse, sailing in italian waters I will be subject to sea police check on rules that have very much to be interpreted :::

At 1000 EUR a year. I suggest Belize or St Vincent less hassle.
