Gearbox Oil

The specification for my 21 year old MS4B [Volvo] gear box is 75-90W, GL-5 and the only local supply is a semi-synthetic which matches that description: any informed opinion as to its suitability would be welcome.

I was faced with this dilemma- I 'bit the bullet' and drove to the nearest VP supplier to get fully synthetic.

I still don't know if the semi would have been just as good

Semi syn is fine, remember these boxes were on the market way before these new oils.
