I have an old Garmin 2006c that is excellent and operates perfectly. The charts are old but I have up to date raster and vector charts on my phone and tablet.
I have an ais receiver that transmits over WiFi to the tablet.
I would like a transponder and to hardwire to the Garmin if that is possible.
The handbook makes no mention of ais but it can display other vessels sos positions if connected to a dsc radio ...
How likely is it that I could see ais on the Garmin...
I had in mind a matsutec 102 but now am more inclined towards an emtrak b100..
I know an alternative is a WiFi thingy to the tablet but I like hardwired.. switch on setup...
A tablet is ok as a toy in the cockpit but in fog at night I do not want wireless touch screens
