A bit off the beaten track this but never the less ..........

Any body tried using that "galvanising spray" you can buy in a can ? Is it any good against sea water ?

I have a trailer with those rubber pads (which I 've carpeted) AND a winch. Tired of struggling at water's edge with every recovery I bought the rollers to replace the pads, but need to modify the trailer to accept them. I've some experience of welding Mild steel, but not galvanised (I believe it 'spits'). I'd wanted to weld using the steal and welding wire I have and then treat afterwards.

Does this stuff work ?

Thanks is advance - (I know it's a long shot that anyone will know)

The spray you are talking about in the can form places like halfords etc is for astecit purposes only. I tried it on some mild steel in the garden and within weeks it started to rust. Several companies advertise in yellow pages who will give you a quote, after you do the initial work to galvanise your bits and bobs. for a general idea I had some bits done at a company and it cost me £20.
