As you might be aware of, Greek islands used to have a lower VAT rate than the mainland. However this is slowly changing.

The following islands will start using mainland VAT rates as of 01-01-18:
Lesvos, Lemnos, Agios Efstratios, Chios, Psara, Oinousses, Samos, Ikaria, Kos, Kalymnos, Nisyros, Patmos, Leros, Symi, Astypalea, Chalki, Kastellorizo and Samothrace.

This means high VAT will go from 17 to 24%

Not a big change in a cash economy.

Corfu I think already charges vat at 24%

Yup, the same at Rhodes, Ios, Santorini, and a lot of other islands.
This was just FYI in case somebody is there and is planning to get some work done or need to buy some local stuff.
Btw, on a 100 Eu bill the increase is about 6 Eu.
