Looked at installing these fuel king gismos to my fuel line, read some of the reviews on the product and all praise the invention, cutting smoke down to an aceptable level. Mines ok at sea, but get with stop start lark on the river and I can smoke the river out.
Anyone seen or use them?

Dunno if they work but would be interested to find out, slow running on the river does tend to make engines smokey especially the Perkins 6.354s but as you say, within a few minutes of being at sea it call clears.

It's a Neptune 38 sedan, Clive. Very similar to the Grand Banks Europa, same spec but I consider a better build on what I have seen to the GB's. Has Volvo 200 turbo's and smokes like anything while on the river. Cruises at about 14/15 knots with a good sea and would drive through a brick wall, if I left her to herself.
Can't get her any further up the river than Chertsey as she is too high to get under the bridges.

Have got the details on the kit, comes in at about £270 per engine with a 30 day trial on Volvo 200 turbo's, so I guess you would be in the similar price range. Thinking about installing one and run a comparison with engines. Have to do something, started the engines up on Saturday and nearly smoked the Marina out.

If I remember well with these things they have to be fiitted as close to the injectors as poss otherwise they are useless.

Ahem....Have you thought of trying Soltron? Could have 45,000 litres worth of treatment for same price.

I had them retro-fitted to my last boat (Broom 33, 2 x 180 Mercruisers).

The engines were clean anyway, on river or sea. I had them fitted to reduce likelyhood of diesel bug.
Byron, Blakey fitted them and I think recommended them.

Will reduce emissions and reduce soot on transom, provided that the boat is running ok...it does a lot of things but wont fix a knackered engine!

A first...

Dom AKA DepSol has admitted that Soltron might not be able to fix a knackered engine. Is ths is the first sign that there is a breach in the sea defences that are known as "Soltron Fixes All"

Problem - What does he do? He gets the beers in...

Yep, easy as ABC. worked out for you that if you find the smoke reduction enough for you then for equiv price of Fuel Kings you could buy (@ uk cost of £30)
9 Litres of Soltron (negotiate discount to get 1 extra free but not inc in calculation) which will treat 45,000 litres of fuel approx 9900 Gallons @ 12 gals an hour thats 825 hours of running therefore 150 hrs a year running time is 5 and half years supply.

Nearest place to you is in Bucks or Middlesex I think.

Re: Fuel King Hell

On the other hand you could put a couple of nice quiet petrols in the boat. This will avoid spending a small fortune on stuff to make it first of all go and then another fortune trying to prevent a mini fog bank in middle of marina.Ohh and you could save money on earplugs and not get that nasty industrial thing that people get from all that vibration IMHO
Ps and all your fillings don`t fallout
