We had use of the company workshop for the weekend.
Or more to the point the 4 post lorry hoist/ramp type thing.

The intention was to use the free wheel beams to hold straps under Sirenia, lower the trailer from her and be able to fully anti-foul here and remove a lot of rust from her drop keel.

Got her on the hoist on Friday evening and set about sorting straps etc.
got every thing in place and started to lower her into the straps.
Then realised that the trailer was overhanging the support beam at the bow.
So we could not do it that way.
Much head scratching ensued.
Went home for a beer and bed.

Woke Saturday morning with a bright idea.
support the main beams at the bow end and strap them into place on to the posts at each side.
Most of the morning spent getting it all set up involving acrow props and lengths of timber.
Finally ready to go and find that before the load came on the straps the beams were hard on her topsides and there was a lot of creaking sounds.

We decided the discretion was the better part of valor and gave up on that idea.

We just got on and anti-fouled the parts of her bottom we could get at and pushed the cast iron keel as far up into the cabin as we could and chirped of the rust, epoxied and antifouled that.

So now the bottom foot of her keel is still rusty and not anti-fouled and she has an interesting pattern on her bottom where she sits in the cradle of her trailer.

She is now back home under my bed safe and sound.

FullCircle recons that you can lock the keel down and dry out against a wall.
I just do not fancy that.

More head scratching called for.

Next job is to rub down her topsides and prepare for painting with Blakes Polygloss.
Got use of the work shop again over Easter to do the top coats.

Re: Frustrating Weekend-Mark 2!

All ready to go to the boat for working weekend on Friday a.m-car loaded etc. night before. Woke up to a most dreadful cold-mission aborted. Next available slot after Easter! At this rate I'll be laidup before launched!
