Frost stats and tubular heaters

All,

Just purchased 2 x 3ft tube heaters. I thought they would have a stat on them but it appears not! 1. should i send them back and purchase ones with stats if they exist or 2. Purchase a seperate frost stat. if so any idea wot type and where?

I just leave the heaters on all winter. But I think you can buy a frost stat that just plugs in. Or what about a simple timer and put it on at night.

Dont think you can get tube heaters with integral stats, but I may be wrong. Mine is fitted with what appears to be a domestic room stat although the temp range must be -5 to +10 ish try your local Electrical wholesalers they should be able to source one.

I have been using one of these for a couple of years and it seems to work well.

I set mine for 4 degrees to be on the safe side.

Usually leave my two on time switches all winter. Comes on at 5.00 p.m., goes off at 7.00 a.m. and comes on a couple of times during the day. If its not frosty, its usually damp. Leave a bit of ventilation too. No point in building up condensation. Ruins the electrics.

3ft thats big I have 2 x 2ft in the engine bay on an old central heaing stat and a 2 ft in the cabin with a timeswitch.

He He,,,,I have a 6ft heater in my Engine bay,,,saves using 2 plugs plus its cheaper.
