Fridge

My fridge runs off the boat 12volt batteries, anyone know what I need so that it will run also from the mains, when in a marina,
Thanks in advance.
Yes, I have a mains charger, But, if,/when the mains goes off, my boat batteries will not last very long, much prefer to suffer loss of FRIDGE contents.( Less value and trouble)

A very cheap solar panel controller can act as a low voltage isolation switch between the batteries and fridge.

You need a simple AC to 12V/24V power supply with sufficient current rating to supply your fridge during compressor start (see your fridge specs to find this rating). There are various ways to hook this up, from manually disconnecting the fridge from the battery and connecting it to the power bricks DC side to the fridge, over selector switches down to a very expensive box sold by boat fridge makers that in addition to said power supply has a little relay which, upon finding the AC switched on will switch the fridge away from the battery and onto the DC power supply built into it. You can easily make one of them too if you fancy that. Add a fuse (again, see fridge specs) and an AC switch for the power supply and you have the same thing that Frigoboat sells (or once sold).

Once thing you mustn't do is have the DC side connected to the fridge without first disconnecting fridge from your batteries (both positive and negative wires, so switching it off at the DC panel is not enough).
