Seeing the earlier post about salt water flow indicators reminded me that I'm looking for a fresh water flow indicator. I've seen one (German I think) that is mechanical (no electrics involved) and simply plugs into the pipe after the fresh water pump and as water is used, it clocks the total taken from the tank. It resets on tank filling so you can always see at a glance how much water you've used and so, how much you've got left. I know you can buy one of those expensive tank guages but this gadget was so simple!!
Anyone out there with any ideas on where I can get one?
Many thanks
John

Sounds rather like the meter which measures the water coming into my house...........except that I havn't found a 'reset' button yet!. Certainly measures to within O.1 litre. About £20 at plumbers merchants. Be careful the marina doesn't bite back and ask you to measure the water going in!!

And of course to really ...

save water and the filling up so often ..... I refuse to fit an elctric pump .... when people have to pump by hand - it makes a bog difference to how much is wasted !!!!

I have a 10 gal tank and that will last me about a week with 2-3 people on board ... showers at marina of course !! My mate has same tank but electric on-demand system and he fills it every 2 days !!

I got one recently...

I got one from Compass Watersports. Goto http://www.compass24.com/, select on-line shop and search for "water tank meter". Its pricey at £180, but as I have a bag-tank I can't use a normal 'level' gauge. It's simple to fit and has been really useful. I know Compass have had some ribbing over poor service, but I've ordered several things over the last year or so and haven't had a problem.

Cheers,

Jerry

Re: I got one recently...

Yes, I've seen those but would prefer to avoid electrical systems. The one I saw ages ago was purely a mechanical device inserted into the piping.
Thanks though
John
