Fresh or salt

Went to inspect a possible purchase of a yacht and asked to see the bilges. They had waterin them so I instinctively tasted it,it was salty.Theowner was amazed at my action and went on to invent a shaggy dog story about the water omittingtomentionhe had installed a new automatic bilge pump……didn’t buy the boat

I imagine that by now you have developed an impressively comprehensive list of reasons for not buying a boat. ?

You must share it with us sometime!

Enjoy your day out by the seaside!

If it's the one I think it is, it looks reasonably tidy and practical.

It's a pity about the mainsheet in the companionway, and I couldn't work out where the loo was. (Under one of the berths, presumably? - How acceptable is lack of a separate compartment in practice?)

I shan't mention the narrow side decks. :devilish: ;)

To add to the ideas.. Would adding a drop of acid to the water produce a bit of fizz if salt, but nothing if fresh? Not tried it, but just wondering.

The Brio has 1.5 mt 'below' and I think the bog is under the double forward berth (looking at the specs) with a bit of ply covering it; Again, bit like the Kelt, just a bit longer
Also, no mention of fixed donk, So an O/B off the transom.
Think you need to look at a bit longer, 26ft? To get the headroom and separate bog.
The Trapper I spent some time sorting has all the things you would like, even a shower. Not so many about.

It’s what’s available in Coruna and pontevedra the areas with biggest quantities of yachts for sail going up to a Puma 29 which is for sale in pontevedra jacks the price up to 18.000 euros

Oh well, my Chemistry took a dive when I couldn't get on with the teacher, so quit the class and self taught Tech and Geometric drawing' to 'A' level and passed!

Use your multimeter with probes a fixed distance apart. First calibrate in known fresh and known salt.
“Electrical conductivity is measured in microsiemens per centimeter (uS/cm). Freshwater is usually between 0 and 1,500 uS/cm and typical sea water has a conductivity value of about 50,000 uS/cm”
