France or Spain?

I've spent my first year on the water in Mallorca which has been fantastic, but later this summer I need to decide whether to stay there or move the boat to a new location. Does anyone have any views on the relative merits of the Balearics and Southern France and relative costs?

Hotter in spain, better for beaches, chip butties and beer. France more refained, posh food, option to drive, slightly cheaper berthing options (cos there are more). Less English spoken in France, more of a prob if you don't have the lingo - some harbours won't vhf cept in French.
