Went last week to buy quite a lot of stuff. Hadn't been there in some time - so wasn't aware now on one floor, and feels tiny compared to before. Aisles narrowed, they've tried to get as much in as possible & reduced the amount of clothing, but very poor experience compared to previously.

Had need to go in twice last weekend last time to buy a new fender to match the others we had except dopey here had forgot to take the size. New guy I had never seen popped over said could he help explained he took three deflated fenders out pumped them up to help 'size'. Never had service like that before - top marks.

That isnt cricket on an open forum

This is a boating forum though, not a cricket forum :)

I wanted a remote monitor for my Sterling charger, but they were a bit pricey. I pointed out the price difference and reminded said person that they claimed to be unbeatable on price and he replied that the price matching policy only applied within 50 feet of the building.

Not helpful. I called later and spoke to Simon, the manager, who ordered one on a price matched deal. Not the first time i've had bad attitude from said person. Perhaps he had one of his hangovers.

I'm sure we've all had good and bad customer service in many retail outlets. I don't recall any problems in Fox's Chandlery. They have the big advantage over others locally in that they usually have what I need and served with helpfulness and courtesy, apart from one person who seemed to follow us around the old clothing department as though we were potential shoplifters. Perhaps we should have dressed a bit posher :)

The other thing from my point of view is that they are, expensively, on the way without a detour :(

I just wish they would offer a bit of discount for Club or Association membership, I suppose I might win the monthly prize, but as her indoors said, 'Good luck with that'

Overall, I'm on the plus side with Fox's.

Amazingly, I won a £50 monthly prize a couple of years ago! Big surprise.

I got a mailer today about the new chandlery, with a 10% discount voucher. Now the voucher says it doesn't apply to "discounted items", so it's anybody's guess what it might apply to, but I'm going to try it against a few tins of antifouling next week.
