Hi brian, thanks,Your SOH kept us smiling. It was good to do some full on sailing as with the family we aviod anything over an F5 , rain, darkness and cold!

hlb is correct, aparently due to the costs involved a "proper"burgee would be extortionate unless over 1000 were made.
Our local yearly big race(east coast) uses a penant made from ripstop with a line sewn in to one edge and printed with the sponcers name and race logo.Ok so the printing is not great but they must be inexpensive as they are given away as part of the race pack .The race attracts a good fleet but it still only runs into a couple of hundred entrants. The penant will not be as flash as the forum burgee but if there is any interest i could investigate the possibilities./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

It dont need 1000. I'm only trying to get to 6 or 10. It's a bit hard on the bloke who has to embroider them then take then take them to his mate the stichy man 20 miles away for only one.

OK,that sounds good, fred in the shed to the rescue. But will the forum pay the prices for a proper burgee ? if so then all we need is a design, what about using the YBW burgee with " CHGB 03"?

Look it's dead smiple. The presant burgee cost me £50 to develope. Words cost nothing. In setting up that is.zer0 cost. But more stitching.
Zero cost equelts to £12 Quid for super duper flag. Or 16 quid for name. Is that under stood!

I'll have one [or two], I still fancy the different glass/cup option.

Then we can get into where and how to hoist it.../forums/images/icons/wink.gif.

Let's get the bloody burgee first before we really start confusing people.
Jesus, this is like pulling teeth - WHERE DO I GET ONE?

To order a ybw Forum Burgeee:

Send a Cheque for £12 payable to H Bohen together with a
large stamped (41pence) addressed envelope to:

W Hall Group
6 Enterprise Court
Newhouse Rd.
Accrington
Lancs BB4 6TS

All details and a piccie on http://www.boatsontheweb.com then click on forum burgees on the left

Note the bit about sending a LARGE stamped addressed envelope. If you send a little envelope that Haydn can't stuff the burgee into, you'll receive ritual abuse on the forum for being an illiterate idiot

Thats a puzzle - there are many races that have pennants associated with them where the entry list is in tens to 100's, rather than 1000's

Is this an elitist raggie thing. Sort of divide & conquer. There is a perfectly good forum burgee available and it has been set up for everyone's use. Who the hell cares if it has a cocktail glass, champagne glass or a bloody beer barrel. It's already in place, it took a bit of setting up and it is of an excellent quality. It's individual and unique to the users of ybw forums. Is it because some of you associate it with MoBo's? I have seen them from Scotland to the Med, on Mobos and Yachts and it makes people instantly recognisable as forumites, encourages contact and I know it's always something other forumites look out for. Why change for change's sake. Lets encourage more forumites to expand on what we have. Who knows, perhaps we can even set up discounts at chandlers & stuff, not that thats what it was set up for.
There are already plenty of raggies use these, in fact I am delivering one to a raggie in the Med next week. So lets stick together and forget all the crap, and strengthen these forums. When others ask me what mine is, I don't say its because I use the Mobo forum, I reply that I got it from the ybw forums and I always get told that it is an excellent qualty item and looks good. You can individualise them for a few quid more than the basic one, I.e. Number of posts, boat name.
If you can get something of the quality, for anywhere near £12 I will be very surprised.

Rant over

Thank you kind sir!

We went through all this crap, years ago. I just happened to have a bloke down the road who has a computer embroidery machine. Only trouble was. Could get no agreement on design. Well B1 who kindly runs the runs the http://www.boatsontheweb.com/ For us all, got his arse into gear and posted the mouse design. Mouse as in Computer mouse. Forget what the rest means. The other thing was. It's embroiderable, without to many stitches. So ideal design.

Anyway I put money where mouth was and got the Burgee made. There are now maybe a couple of hundred out there. Even had a special flag flying ceremony on Englander in Lagos a couple of years ago. Cant get more raggie than that!!

And heres the picture for the unbelievers. Exept for some unknown reason. The burgee has grown some what in size since then!!

Re: Rant

Hoo i think you have missed the point. Its not an elite raggie thing just a momento of a sucessfull trip, which if you had read the previous posts you would understand.
It is in addition to the much coverted YBW burgee .In fact it dosn't even have to be a "burgee"and could be something else, T-shirts,tie pin, bumper sticker, whatever the majority decide. If its not wanted ,also fine.

Re: Rant

Hi squidge, actually I did read the earlier posts and while I may have misconstrued the intent, I don't think I was alone. Can't see many people going for stickers though. I can picture it now. All these yacht blazing around the Solent covered in 'I was at Newton Creek/Skegness/Cowes/Dartmouth etc in 2000/1/2/3 stickers' or 'I was on Glen Rosa & survived' or ' I've been aground with Duncan' (actually thats almost true), and their skippers wearing 'Kiss me quick hats' or some such.
Hmm....what to do??

Re: A glass is a glass :

of course at the beginning of a meeting you try to use the specific one but later on you are more interested with contents than container !
IMHO the burgee is a clever one for a virtual pub and "sailors of all churches":
a mouse learning from all others !
I'll have one, don't worry with payment in Euros, I come in Cornwall next year, please, have one ready for me to collect (around a real glass...)
