Foredeck Tender Storage

Can I be honest? I just use a £10 cheapie rechargeable or 12V air mattress inflater and top off very quickly with a foot pump. (Maybe 10 pumps max per air chamber) Those prices are ridiculous.

Thanks. As a slightly cheaper alternative, I wonder if this would work for me?

I think 4.4psi would be fine for a dinghy wouldn't it?

Pete

Should do. A williams is 3.6 psi. a SUP is 15 psi ( red paddle)

I have one of these and you can power it from your 12v high current socket.

I dont know how long the rechargeable ones will pump for but we have a lot of inflatable toys and some can be 5-6-7 mins a time to inflate as they are quite large.

Th above is cheaper and uses the boats supply which seems less charging faff.

From memory, I think you need about 8 psi for the floor of an air deck type of tender. Also if you have a sup (which a lot of people use as a tender because it’s more convenient) that also needs high pressure. I’m happy to be corrected:)

My tenders got a slatted floor so looks like that doesn't need as high a pressure as an inflatable floor.

What's a SUP?

Incidentally, my Zodiak looks like is has a twist fit valve but the twist fit adapter that came with the foot pump doesn't seem to fit. Any thoughts anyone?

Sadly only the dinghy (don't have space for anything else). I told you I should have bought a T40!

Another question for you J, on the back of the boat there's a 12v socket (with a rubber cover for the sosket) but it doesn't seem to take a cigarette lighter type plug. Any idea what model the socket is and what plug it would take? I don't know if it was OEM or retrofit.

A Stand Up Paddle, they are everywhere. A surfboard with a canoe paddle
Ps it’s easy with an electric pump to hold the nozzle tight to the tender, because you have both hands free. Trickier with a manual pump
Pps just remembered, I think there is a rubber washer somewhere on the nozzle, I remember changing it for a thicker one and it sealed it tight. Too thick and you can no longer fit it in

Its OEM. A trolling motor plug set

My charger has the crocodile clips to go to the battery, but my T40 batteries are miles from the swim platform, over on the port side in the engine bay... Does anyone use any or have any inventive ideas that could extend them?

The links all sell the same stuff ... was just and example. Ebay have them as well. Many come from the USA and seem to be £25 delivered.

The socket / plug has 3 connections. You only use 2 of them. A multimeter will tell you which two.

Thanks I get that but will have to buy the socket as well as you can't seem to buy just the plug in the UK (I need it for Wednesday). I suspect my socket will have corroded over the years so buying a plug and socket set is no big deal.

I can buy a 3 wire socket and just wire the + and - to it but am curious to know why toy would have a 3rd wire on a 12v circuit.

One for Fairline!

It maybe that the 3 pin version twists to lock. I am not aware of a 2 pin version so this may well be wrong.

The socket is designed for the outdoors so I doubt it is corroded, but you will have a spare anyway.

The plugs are usually in the fairline blue documents box when you buy the boat. My S58 still had it there's that might be worth a look also.

Thanks all, particularly jrudge. I've ordered a Bravo BP12 pump and a Marinco socket / plug for the stern. Will try them out next week.

I'll do some pootling about with the tender on the bows and see how I get on with that.

Let me know how it goes Pete. I’m likely to follow suit so I can make use of my socket on the T40.
