Foredeck Tender Storage

Will do, I'll take some pics too.

Although, if you've got a T40, why do you need to inflate and deflate the tender? Or is it for some other toys?

I wasn’t lucky enough to inherit a Valiant 270 with mine which is the only bugger that will fit inflated!! So have to pump and deflate the tender I have (2.7m Horneave) plus a SUP too!

Just got back from 4 days on the boat. In the end I had the choice of a 2 or 3 pin Marinco plug / socket pack. As the 2 pin one was available immediately and the 3 pin would take a few days longer I ordered the 2 pin one. Arrived just in time for me to take to the boat on Wednesday.

Ideally, the original socket on the boat would have been a 2 pin one and therefore I could have plugged the new plug into the old socket. Unfortunately the old and tired socket was a 3 pin one so I decided to replace it with the new socket (couldn't get a voltage from the front of socket on multimeter anyway).

Pulled the old socket out and measured the voltage across the terminals at the back and got a good 12v supply. Unfortunately, the terminals on the old socket were corroded so I had no choice other than to cut the cable off. To add to my misery, the terminals on the new socket were a little smaller than terminals on the old one so I couldn't get the wire strands to go in. At that point I called for help got a guy who does electrical work in the marina to help out (he was working on Jez's boat I think!). He managed to get the wires in and tighten them.

He also cut the old battery connectors off the new pump and wired them to the new plug. Took about an hour. After smearing the whole lot with loads of Vaseline he was done.

Anyhow, the new pump (as recommended by jrudge) works brilliantly and inflates the tender in a few minutes (really quick) so I'm pleased that I did the fix / upgrade.

To others in the same position, test that you've got a good voltage to and from the socket and if so, see if a 3 pin will work without the hassle of changing the socket.
