Small pitting on outboards

Hi everyone. I just discovered some small pittings on the outboards skeg. Disappointing to say the least on a set of outboards less than a year old. I can’t see the aluminium, it just looks like the first layer of paint bubbled up. Unfortunately I am now pressed for time to put the boat back in the water in a few days and work commitments won’t allow me to spend time before she goes back in and make a proper repair. Has anyone used J-B Weld MarineWeld 8272 before on underwater aluminium applications? The idea is to apply a thing layer of it or something similar like milliput to shield the damage, touch up with primer and then apply a bit of touch up paint until next year when I take the boat out again.

I assume the skeg is 8mm thickness or so?
I doubt it will disappear shortly unless you have an astonishing short circuit!
If you want a product, seajet 34 triple pack gives you two tins to make an awful lot of aluminium epoxy primer and an antifoul. About £30 or so.
If your skeg is disappearing, you have a rather more serious issue.

I did not take pictures unfortunately. My outboards are always fully tilted but about 2 or 3 inches remains submerged. One thing I noticed is that the anodes fitted to the hull did not have any corrosion, so I suspect that the dealer last year fitted zinc anodes as opposed to magnesium since they are based in saltwater and I am based in fresh water. I replaced the anodes today on the hull and trim tabs for magnesium. This could explain the early corrosion on the skegs. They are pea size, about 8 of them.

Thank you. I will see if I can order some in time for the weekend as next week I am back in the water. It is more of a precaution so that the damage does not get any worse.
