I have recently acquired a boat with this engine which runs ok apart from "hunting" at higher revs - max revs 1800 rpm.

Any ideas on what might be the cause ??

Got a feeling that is a traight with this particular engine ( I'm sure someone will confirm or deny) Check obvious stuff like fuel filters / seperators and clean / replace if needed. Oh, and welcome to mobo.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.
What I forgot to say was that it is a twin installation and the other engine runs perfectly.

Hello. I can't tell you exactly what is causing it but my engine used to do that. I treated it with Soltron and it cured it there and then and has run much better since. Now I always use it at every fill up. Worth a try before mechanical solutions?
