I need a petrol lift pump for AQ151c, is there a equivalent other than volvo? as I have seen on the internet for as little as £10, I am peeved to pay £77, or can any one tell me where to inquire,
many thanks T10ny

Yes and no, its the same as a volvo 760 car from past memory but some marine pumps have a drain tube so that in the event the diaphram splits the fuel is directed down the tube into an area thats safer than it running down the side of the engine.

You have been warned as it could cost you the boat in the event of a fire having not fitted the correct part.

on looking at the pump it has a nipple from the diapheam area pointing upwards, there is no pipe attached to the nipple

pump

Hi Clive, I have checked the other engine which looks a lot newer and it does not have a pipe connected to the nipple and my manual does not show a pipe, I have now taken the pump off but two people have said the pump seems to be working, I will have to return to the boat and have a look at the pipe connection on the fuel tank as I feel that if the pump is working the only thing stopping the petrol flow is air intake, I have checked for blockage with a foot pump, any suggestions welcome
Regards

Check for airleaks in the pipe between the pump and the Carb

If there's a leak between the pump and the carb it will be a petrol leak out not an air leak in :)

T1ony - have you tried blowing into the pipe from the pump to the tank to dislodge anything that may have blocked the pickup in the tank? You should be able to feel/hear air bubbling into the tank if it's clear.

He has checked :p

I,m meant between the tank and pump as I had similar symptons on a 131 with a small hole in the pipe so it would not draw petrol up

Yes, I admit I was being a bit pedantic in spelling it out - he didn't actually say which bit he'd blown through.

Agreed, that would leak air in and cause starvation. Sorry, I didn't realise that's what you meant to say :p :p

Thanks guys, I have put some pipe from lift pump to carb nipple, just wonder why the Volvo engineer didn't put any on (plonker) as he supposingly took the carbs off and serviced them! I used a foot pump to blow the pipe from inlet side of petrol filter to holding tank, could hear the bubbles, put everything back together and hey presto the engine run, but found I had a cell gone in the battery. Regards
