This post made me think. What is your deductible ours is £1000 so the value of one solar panel would not exceed it and it would not be worth losing our no claims bonus.

Ours is £300. However, it's not just the deductible, is it? Once you've made a claim, you then lose your "no claims" bonus and you also become a higher risk, therefore pushing up future premiums.
Excess £350 on all except OB and annex where it's £75.

Loss of NC bonus would add £78, so unless the claim is in excess of £428 I would be out of pocket.

Whether one would be rated as a greater risk and therefore have an higher premium is a moot point - in my case unlikely if a similar situation.

Most significant is what premium you are paying on the total amount insured (unlike motor or house insurance you're paid out strictly in line with your value insured). 0.5% is an extremely low rate and 1.2% high, 0.7% about right.

Juast to make it clear, that I claimed back directly with the charter company and did not have to make an insurance claim. With the witness statement and pic's it proved successful. I can only assume that the charter company then claimed against the bond deposited by the charterers.

Insurance companys work on experience, and they have found that someone who has made a claim,is more likely to make another claim.
Also, if you have 'no claims protection', it doesn't mean they won't increase your premium if you make a claim.

Not necessarily, some policies have different terms when you're moored or in a marina. We were hit last year whilst moored and NCB not affected and no increase in premium. Amicus Legal also refunded our £250 excess.

This is good news. I'm glad to see some marina insurance providers aren't as money grabbing as the motor insurance thieves.

Side story - I was hit (motorcycle) a few years ago and the other person failed to stop. I informed my insurance company (wish I hadn't) however didn't make a claim as the damage wasn't worth it. Following year they wanted to push up my premium as I'd allegedly had a fault accident! They claimed the accident would be shown against me until someone else was officially found to be at fault. Thieves.

In fact, it got even better. They paid my hourly rate to do the repairs myself, plus haul-out costs and yard storage. We now have a new walk-through pulpit instead of the difficult to climb over original! Made the time we were impounded by police worthwhile.
