Flood warnings as well!

Southwold

Lots more water for manoeuvring today but the tide is running a bit fast!

Boston is looking like it might be very bad... In particular the lower areas to the north and north west...

Thankfully the inlaws came through it unscathed, had me worried all night as they live in a bungalow downhill from a river that used to take surges until the EA stuck a sluice gate in. For some reason the sluice wasn't opened so the river stayed at normal level all the way through it. They arrived here a couple of hours ago and admit they didn't realise what could have happened. Just can't understand why sluices weren't opened to ease flooding elsewhere, the rivers have flood banks and are supposed to take this sort of thing. Or so I thought

So Mersea at high tide looked like this (wasn't as high as last night):

Had an email from kings boat yard, everything down there is fine, they were well prepared although there was some flooding, they are ready again for tonight.

Fingers crossed that's the end of it, so how much was ten inches again ?
Best wishes to those affected by this, so glad I'm not afloat right now, in some ways
Roger, expect a 'Bob' call early, couch order in place if required
