Not a lot on their website

Ships Blog 5/12/2013

Brrr, morning all and welcome to a much colder Ships Blog. Topic of the day is the Flood warnings out for the East Coast. We know the main surge will come with tonight’s tide actually around one o’clock in the morning. The staff are making sure everything is made safe as required today and the night lock master will be keeping an eye on the boats in the marina. We will monitor the situation during the day and tonight and will post updates. For those on Twitter and Facebook keep an eye on these as well.

Thanks - saw those, and nothing more on Twitter when I last looked. Not that I expected anything really - more on their minds. Just wondered if anyone were there.

10pmEnvironmen update from enviroment Agency indicates that there is now an increased risk to other areas of Essex for a severe risk of flooding. The following areas are now at strong risk of flooding in addition to the Jaywick, Seawick and Mersea Island areas.

* Manningtree
* Hamford Water (Dovercourt to Walton)
* Heybridge Basin (River Blackwater)
* Maldon to Maylandsea
* Creeksea to Battlesbridge (River Crouch)
* Paglesham, Rochford, Potton Island and the Wakerings
* Harwich to Mistley (Stour Estuary)

A rest centre is being set up for Maldon residents at the Upper Plume School.

Essex Police and its partners have set up a dedicated hotline that people can call for information and the number is 0800 0961233.

Not from where I'm sitting.
Spent all night rescueing boats from our hardstanding that had floated off their cradles. - Unbeleivable.

East Yorks and Lincolnshire is in a mess this evening.

Stay safe everyone, this is a once in a lifetime experience, (Till tomorrow morning)

Anyone know if there is anyone on duty at Royal Harwich keeping an eye on the marina?

We have just left the club, the Commodore is still there keeping an eye on things. Looks very strange, the water is well up in Geoff's hut, and half way along the access bridge which goes up at quite an angle to the pontoons!!! There is still about 1.5 metres or so of posts above the pontoons. Hope it will be enough.

Coming home we drove further down the lane towards the Butt. The water was well up past the pub entrance, I should think the bar has flooded.

Father in law just had call from management company for his pad in the new marina in brightlingsea. They have told him they have sand bagged the place up ! My memory is not that bad but I am sure the high water mark is miles away from the top of the marina wall. Anyone near ?

Thanks Leigh. Is the dinghy park going to flood? Bit worried about my inflatable in the dinghy rack.

We didn't go round there in the dark, I think the water may get up that far, but probably not deep enough to cause a problem?

Had a call from the Environment Agency automated voice about 10.00. Upgraded to severe risk of flooding here in Heybridge. Looked on the TV for an update but all I could get on the news was Nelson Mandela! I know he was a great man etc but people's lives are at risk tonight. Even the local radio station spent time on it in their Surge special programme. Have packed a grab bag and am going to bed now. Hope the house is still here in the morning! Also hope all forum members are safe and their boats and property. See you in the morning.
