The military road at Brook and Compton is collapsing too. The preferred solution is to let it collapse, it seems.

Friends of ours have a driveway that exits onto the military road between the Afton and Brook collapses. They’ll be selling their cars and buying a Land Rover I daresay.

Ref - floating bridge: how much longer does it take (by car) to go round through Newport - assuming you’re not just wanting to go from E Cowes to W Cowes or vice versa?
