Floaters.

No not something for haydn to study, but what is the most unusual thing you have seen floating at sea. Earlier on today we came across a large chest freezer floating upright almost completely out of the water. Reported it to Portland coastguard who said oh no not that again. They then put out a securitee but described it as a fridge /freezer!!

Another friend earlier this summer is believed to have hit a dead horse in his phantom 43, almost caused him to sink - found the aft cabin almost under water the next morning. Now I've seen plenty of white horses but never a dead horse!!!

There must be plenty of unusual things floating about out there. What have you seen?

How's about a WW2 Torpedo floating nose cone up ? I lassoed it and stemmed the tide with it for 2 hours until the Navy arrived to blow it up. I still have the newspaper cuttings.

It was in the 70s, someone reported a Mine to the C.G. as an Auxiliary C.G. I was despatched to look. I found it, and that's it.

Large capsized barge off Eastborne at the weekend complete with jet skiers sitting on top. No markings or lights but great for radar practice.
