Been promised a trip to West Mersea on the Sunday for lunch and collection of a couple of dozen oysters - so its shaping up to be a good weekend all round

Ah, the good old 5-7 forecast again. I've complained about this, explained that 5 and 7 are very different in a small sailing boat, but they just wave a hand and quote some unbelievable percentage accuracy.
Well, if they said wind F0-9, they'd be right 99.9% of the time, wouldn't they.

I appreciate it is a big area to forecast for. The N Foreland end seems to be windier than the Gib Point end.

Am working on the basis that once am over the spiway (near HW) will be in the lee of the Dengie so there may be wind but not much sea.

Am blanking the Wallet out for now as I have a man's boat crewed by gorillas and skippered by a wimp.

Never mind the weather, my crew is ors de combat and won't be joining us tomorrow night (he's hopefully going to be either tucked up in his berth or joining me on Sunday and doubly hopefully well enough to go a-voyaging by Monday or Tuesday otherwise this could be my first major single handed sailing trip :o)

Not sure if he'll get a chance, or even choose to do so, but just in case he does, I've asked Simonjk to see if he can give something a bit more accurate. So no picking on him for advertising if he does ;)

fambridge to Burnham....
A pretty difficult passage if you don't mind me commenting.
Are you sure you can manage? Who will take over watch when you get tired? And who is gong to navigate?

After the adventures I had earlier navigating all of fifty yards in a dinghy, Fambridge to Burnham should be a breeze. Even if it is quite a stiff breeze
