The White Hart hotel is good,
Also the Anchor and the Oyster Smack
The Crouch does have rooms, but theybwere basic last time I used them and they don't do breakfast...

Looking at windguru I don't think I will be sailing from the Orwell. F5 gusting 8 in the Wallet is not my idea of fun.

Early days yet, Maybe better idea of weather on Thursday.. ish? .. presume westerly in Wallet would be beam reach and as an offshore breeze the sea state will be fine?

I'm a wallet novice .. both nautically and monetarily!

Not rushing to make a decision.

Medusa to N Eagle is 240ish. Heading for Wallet / Swin spitway would ease that a bit in a Westerly.

Wind a bit North of West would be OK in a 5-6 but in my opinion it would be foolish to go out with gusts of 8 forecast near the nose in a boat I have only sailed a couple of weekend so despite her pedigree I think I am the weakest link!

What to do is go onto Weatheronline.co.uk and download and save a forecast for Sat lunch. Then do the same tomorrow and the same on Thursday and Friday.

If the forecast stays constant (SW F8) then the forecast is good… as it is accurate.
However if the forecast changes every time the model is re-run, as it has been doing for the past three days, then the weather pattern is very unstable and it really will be look on the day and decide at the last minute.

Whatever, we will be in Burnham to take ropes …. Pls send PM with approx. ETA

Latest forecast is for F6 gusting F9 from the West or South West on Saturday! I'm not even looking forward to the 5 mile run downriver in that!!!!

You need to be aware of the Weather Online forecast model which is GFS, and not the most accurate... However, one good thing about WoL for those geeky type is that there is an option for Expert charts which gives access to things like ECWMF pressure charts... under Weather Maps... Expert Charts...

Fitting Up Supper MENU and change of VENUE

We have treated poorly having submitted a booking form and cheque I was told that the Commodore of BSC had said someone else could use it and didn't tell the bookings secretary so hard luck.

Hey ho. We are now going to the Crouch Yacht Club where there is a bar so don't bring your own. No charge for the room as we are sailing people That's more like it.

Please put your names down on the list
