At a meeting of that well known tribe weusters, fishimg came up not game fishing, but the old long line, small purse net,lobster/crab pot,etc not for comercial gain, but to fill the fridge. A young KIA interupted our musings by declaring we where commiting "seriouse offences"as it was in breach of g?? knows how many eu wfa laws and bylaws.
we do not want to be law breakers so can any of you forumites put our minds at rest we enjoy our days and nights out fishing SWMBO thinks the PP is pulling the proverbial

IT si your god given right to go fishing as long as you follow eu and local laws regarding your nets pots etc and the catch size and amount.

You may only catch 2 shellfish per day unless your vessel is licenced. They may not be sold. Don't know the wetfish rule offhand, will find out. The licence for, say, a boat 18ftx6ft, with a 40hp engine would be about £6000.

If you want to find some real pompous pr***s, try here: grimsbymfa.gsi.gov.uk. 01472 355112 They will fill you in.
And you think it's a problem for you. I have a licence that cost £20k, and that's before the boat, gear etc. There is a whole raft of legislation, which may well apply to you, eg: no berried or notched lobsters, minimum landing sizes (different where you are), and it's not all logical.
Chap down here caught a sturgeon, once in a lifetime occurrence. Fishery office oversaw the sale amid much publicity. 2 years later, Fishery brought a prosecution as sturgeon is an endangered species, and what's the point ? He can't stop fishing for fear of catching one.

Was that the one that was hidden in a unit down in Looe?.
I'm not fond of the EU knobs having worked in the fish trade for some years I can understand the hassle that you chaps put up with.
Lots of people locally put out a few pots without any form of licence, dont understand how they can do this without retribution from the powers that be.
