I'm thinking of getting a cheap fishfinder, to use as a depth sounder. Is there any difference between Garmin, Eagle or Hummingbird? Any recommendations, £100 mark?

I have the Garmin FF140 from Malthouse here, very happy with it and IIRC less than your budget.

I find a Gramin GPS chart plotter with fish finder is a great combination.

Humminbird service when it goes wrong is crap! I had one a colour type, it was very good till it broke under warranty, it took me six months to get it fixed, never again!

Another vote for Garmin. Reliable, easy to use, and clear graphics.
