I use a Lowrance X51 and am most happy with it, it does everything I would expect even from a larger unit but had a nice compact size. Economical on power too. Bit more expensive at around £159.

I have two GPS on board, a plotter and a h/h garmin 12 which I bought from MES for I think £59.00, it is a factory reconditioned unit, but seems to work flawlessly, there was not a mark on it, it comes with a warranty too. The Garmin provides my NMEA for radar and VHF when I get it.

Hope this helps a bit.....

you will not go far wrong with Lowrance, the more you pay the better they get, we have a LMS 350, and cannot fault it, especially when we added the differential, returnability is nothing short of magic. PS the LMS 350 has now been superceded

As a basic fishfinder the Garmin 100 is fine and Garmin provide superb after sales service. I tend to prefer separate instruments for each function in case the instrument packs up and you then lose all of the functions it had.
