Just seen my new boat, albeit in a picture! Having decided that the Fisher 37 is the one for me, can any owners advise on the good/bad points they have found over the years? Two things i'd specifically like to find out......Are Davits fitted easily to the stern? I have an Avon R280 inflatable that I'd like to keep on davits, but the stern area looks a bit small for the fittings? Any fixes? Secondly, my normal sailing area involves a lot of low tide mud/sand drying berths. Do the Fisher types sit well on mud & sand, or do i need yacht legs to maintain things upright? Hopefully, everything else looks good..

Was the 37 the boat that featured in a PBO article a year or two back, where they found some handling problems and suggested fixes (changes to sail plan, mostly)? May be worth getting hold of a copy to see some unbiassed views on the boat, although from a pure sailing perspective rather than as an all-rounder.

A lovely boat but check the Colvic Watson 35 as well. The room inside makes the Fisher look tiny but sailing not quite as good as the fisher but if you are going for a Fisher i take it that the sailing abilities was not your first prority. My father has one from 1979 up to 1999 and the whole family has enjoyed many holidays here and abroad with her. I think a motor sailor like the Fisher or Colvic Watson are great boats.
