We are going down to the boat for the first time since she was transported on 12th March. I am probably going to spend most of the 24 hours putting on covers, cushions and blowing up dingys, washing and hoovering etc.. etc... but hopefully we might manage a quick trip down the Hamble. Do give us a wave if you see Maxsisi (Sealine F43 with red covers!)

Drifting my own thread(!) can anyone recommend a company that cleans covers as they need more than a scub and jet wash this year?!

Which marina are you in? Will almost certainly float by tomorrow. Evenstar is a 390 thats looking a bit sorry for herself as her sbd side has been damaged and the biggest tell tale is that the saloon window is boarded up. She'll sulk more if she can't go out though.

Thanks for the number Chi. We are up at Foulkes Elessar. Sorry to hear your boat has been damaged :( I hope you get her fixed soon. We are probably going to head out for a short trip late afternoon and, if I can convince the Mrs then we will stay over in Cowes or the Folly..... Weather permitting!

Wish I could cone to the folly tomorrow but not with our window situation. Likely just take a spin down to the Hamble. Keep an eye out. Fixing wont be a problem, window and seals ordered, the rails are bent and a bit of Gelcoat work to do but not too major. All is in hand, and no issues with it being paid for.

Think I saw you turning just before the bridge this afternoon. (We're in Deacons.) for a moment I thought you were going to go through and was fairly you wouldn't make it then saw you turn round. The name struck me as one I'd seen on here.

Nice looking boat (for a MOBO ;) ) hope you get her fixed soon.

yeah that was me - couple of noobies with me that enjoyed a potter up the river, and I was having a nose at your new pontoons haven't seen the new layout yet, wasn't going to attempt the bridge!
How are people getting on with it, I know the current there is quite strong, guess you ferry glide along to your berth if it's running? (and thanks for the kind comments!)

Saw Lisa too - nice berth that, good view!

Bit early to say yet as boats are only now starting to get into their correct berths but have seen a couple of near misses. We have a great berth. Inside the hammer head on D (which is the long one) so can basically motor straight ahead but other less fortunate boats will have some challenges!

It changes from pretty much slack on some of the inner berths to a good 3 knots so someone coming out from an inner berth in slack water will suddenly start taking a ground track at 45 degrees to their earlier one. Fine if anticipated and up tide and ready to ferry glide. Not so good if on the downtide side, moving slowly and not noticed as have seen!

Always good to get a wave from people Mark :). Boat looks great I have to say. Didn't notice the damage you mentioned before tho?
Saw Jonesy too but wasn't too sure so didn't do any manic waving just in case .

Hi all,
Well we got out for a quick spin today to check all was working ok. Lots and lots of smoke when I opened her up for the first time in 18 months but that cleared and she ran perfectly. I waved at Power skipper (I think) coming through in the Storebro 31 and also saw Lisa on board Lisalou. We spent most of the weekend cleaning up after the transit and a two months sitting idle. I feel a proper clean and polish coming on at Easter! The kids had a ball with crabbing and fishing off the pontoon... my six year old was sooo excited to be filling her bucket with big crabs again!

Our berth at Foulkes is great and it is no trouble getting on and off, as long as you think about the wind and stream first. Ferry gliding is definitely the order of the day. My next challenge is to work out the easiest was of doing it single-handed.

All in all, one very happy bunny who is glad to be back on the coast. Looking forward to meeting Solent based formites properly.... ie over a beer.

You waved at port side! Damage is starboard side. Apart from the boarded up window you probably wouldn't see it from a distance.

Yeah can imagine. When teaching people I always make them walk to the end of the pontoon and observe the tide there before casting off. Yours is a good description of why.
