Here is an interesting development….. The bad toilet smell has been building…so I brought my spare charcoal toilet tank filter to the boat ready to change…an easy but awkward to get to job. However I was always suspicious because the symptoms were different…with a clogged filter the bad smell comes from outside…and the smell was from inside but it was still my first go to task.
Now…and this still an on going experiment…the smell appears to have gone !
I think the smell might have come from the hole in the thru hull….two birds with one stone…a boating first

I don’t think that is always the case…. I had some electricians working on my boat some time ago….these were guys who usually worked on superyachts…and they said it was far easier getting to things on my boat than on superyachts.

I guess Jeff wants all the space for lounging about so the mechanicals etc have to be scrunched up!

The same old problem….loads of room but loads more stuff to put in it….and designers only designing for ease of construction…not maintenance

I have to say I was impressed with maintenance access on the Linssen boats we looked at a couple of weeks ago

Yes and yet that’s the interesting partof designing at least from my point of view.If I had my way the engine and ancillary stuff would take pride of place on commercial vessels say like a Thames barge the crew space was minimal in relation to the hold …..I mean crew like yachtsmen only need a little space to sit about whereas elbow room is needed to change a filter or get at a seascock

You go inspect a boat…you open a small hatch..you get on the floor and stick your head through the hatch and see the seacock….and you think, huum…if I take my head out I can put my arm in and close that seacock…and then take my arm out, stick my head in to see it is properly closed…that’s is great access
When you should be thinking…how the frigging heck am I supposed to replace that seacock
