Fire at East Cowes Marina

I stand corrected, Ireland it was. Perhaps it's me but this sort of boat is just vulgar bling, not craftsmanship, not a great loss in my opinion, plenty of jelly moulds remain.

a boat is invariably someone's pride and joy as this one clearly is, whether the boat is to your liking or not in such circumstances is utterly immaterial. the only thing vulgar in this thread are your posts..

Quite right Gary, and you do have to wonder what the intent was behind his stupid, ill informed rant. He needs to fess up - been on one or not?

God forbid anything like this should happen to your pride and joy. What an incredibly insensitive thing to say. Might be better to spare a thought for the owner or not comment at all tbh.

Well said.

I know this to well with a friend loosing his squadron to fire a couple off months ago.

Reminds me of a fine gentleman I served with in the Navy.

A few guys would club together to hire a car for the weekend back to Pompey from Guzz. Whilst on the Sunday night Pompey to Guzz run back to our ship we stopped at a Pub for a beer. Whilst in the pub the lovely Labrador we met on arrival wandered out into the road outside. Very sadly he was run over and killed instantly.

The gentlemanly a-hole with us was then heard to loudly remark to the Landlady "You will be selling a dog lead and bowl then" !

As you can imagine we left quite quickly. Even now when passing Puddletown I still remark to SWMBO about the 'pub with no dog', and then go on to mention what an a-hole Ed Sh****rd was. Perhaps when the smoke has gone and the boat has been lifted we can think of ECM as the Marina with no Nordhavn, as we then recall the forumite with no heart, or perhaps not !

Presumably they'll have a very good go at finding out, faced with a five bar payout, no?
You bet, imho.
Just curious, how do insurance policies work, in the UK?
I mean, can you insure an X amount, and ask an X refund when things go pear shaped, regardless of the fair market value of the insured thing?
I've seen quite a number of ridiculous asking prices before, but 5.65M$ for this boat surely is one of them.

A sad sight indeed though, regardless of her real value. Good thing that nobody was hurt.

Well put Gary.

Just read this post and I trust all other adjacent boats are ok- what a tragic ending to such a fine boat which we have always admired when coming to east cowes marina.
