Fire at East Cowes Marina

Heartbreaking!!

Seems a strange place for a fire to get hold i.e. It seems to be the upper fly area

It's a shame for any boat to burn, but when all is said and done its just a modern Tupperware which can be easily replaced.

Far more of a tragedy when a vintage boat goes down, such as the recent wreck of the sail training ship in the West Country.

DJ43's squaddie has been now been moved, mine is upwind, but only 20 mtrs away.
My fear is that cylinders (if any are onboard) may explode, wind direction won't help me then.
Marina staff are being brilliant as usual.

presume you've done likewise Roy... just checked wind guru and no wind direction change forecast for the next 24hrs which for yourself, is good news.. a slight swing from westerly to south westerly

Harsh and probably inaccurate. If you're referring to the Astrid, that was in Ireland. No sail training vessel has sunk in the W country recently.

Very sad to see such a fine vessel as the Nordhavn being destroyed.

This is so sad, and my dreamboat too. Thankfully no one hurt. Hope also no one else's pride and joy is affected too much, especially Spottys new boat.

I stand corrected, Ireland it was. Perhaps it's me but this sort of boat is just vulgar bling, not craftsmanship, not a great loss in my opinion, plenty of jelly moulds remain.
