Here we would call it a parasol.....Ingenious. It’s something I never thought of putting on the boat and we had to walk 3km in the rain this morning
I'm still looking for one of those AliExpress magnets that will pick up 316 stainless machine screws....
It is only delaying the inevitable by less than a second, and widening the area you'll have to search the bottom with a magnet!
I know a small marina where they'd call that a 'parapluie'....Here we would call it a parasol.....
Parapluie, weren’t no sol this morning and still drizzling in Lille now. Here we would call it a parasol.....

Now we need to find a use for a 'bicycle...
An exercise bike might come in handy, given the astonishing range of mod cons and other labour saving devices some seem to have on their boats.
(Have people forgotten that shivering, for example, is pretty good at burning off the fat, not to mention stiffening one's moral fibre! )
I needed to work on the Furler earlier this year-used an umbrella exactly as shown so it caught bits When - not if - I dropped them!Ingenious. It’s something I never thought of putting on the boat and we had to walk 3km in the rain this morning

Like any bit of boat canvas, you need to know how to furl your umbrella and maintain the correct tension...But if you are very experienced, you also know how bouncy is the inside of an umbrella.
Put an old towel in it and it cushions the bounce. Just don't forget you've dropped something in it and pull the towel out to wipe your hands part way through the job.But if you are very experienced, you also know how bouncy is the inside of an umbrella.
