What are those outriggers on some of the yachts for?
They're on all of the boats, they are foils. Like the IMOCA ones, but the other way up...

I was under the impression that they do not actually foil in the way, say , a moth does.I'm off for a play on one of those very soon - can't wait! Hopefully, there will be enough wind to foil.

i thought that the foil was to aid stability and replaced the water ballast tanks of the earlier models thus making the boat lighter
am i correct in that assumption?

Had my play last Saturday. Lost of legs holding a steady 12-14 knots of boat speed, occasionally hiogher. Chugging around at 6 knots in my own boat will never feel the same again.
Did you find out where all the FII's have gone ?
