Fifty Feet of Grey (steel)

Not a great deal. Other home pressures, and more grief. Some one decided to burn down a house of mine, so spent a reasonable amount of time trying to get to the bottom of that... Still ongoing...

The yard are progressing with two 15 meter crabbers, and whilst the main coded welder is hot swapping from boat to boat, the rest of us have been looking at other systems.
First design for anchor install I have rejected, as its too far out in the breeze. (30kg stainless bruce dropped through my letterbox last month :)
Along with the lewmar V4 windlass.
I am currently on with the screen suppliers to get that finalised.
Trend are favourites, but also Lewmar are having a look. I beleive they have poached some windscreen people from Trend.

Once we have fully finished welding over the next six weeks, I will be swinging off the back of a grinder for a couple of hundred yards of weld to flush down. Then we grit blast.
(Anyone familiar with grit recovery systems???
Paint is on its way soon.
using Jotun paint, 2 pack hi build epoxy primer.
Also, just finalising the domestic tankage. I have four tanks that can be fitted, but currently just using three. Two for fresh water, and one for black, that can also double up for grey water.
This gives me 580 litres of fresh, and 390litres of black/grey.
Other option was 720 litres of fresh, and approx 230 black

Thanks very muc.
Were making progress again :)

If life wasn't a challenge, everybody would be doing it! (Living, that is).;)
I always refer to Terry Prachet and think of DEATH sharpening his scythe; that brings us all back to earth with a bang!

Good outdoor building weather from March to April: Yes!

Rob,

any good news, work/life primarily and boat as well!

cheers

PS. just to make sure you get an email reminder as there's a new thread asking about you on mobo forum which you wont see unless logging in

Hello Vas
Had a crap year, been chasing in and out of hospital looking after parents
Boats on hold, still, as made redundant last month, and with the industry on its knees at the moment.
Anyway, apparently the big man upstairs loves a trier(how do you spell that)
So, the lads at the yard are looking to retire soon, and pass on that knowledge, so are helping me setup on my own, building workboats/trawlers etc....
I have my fingers crossed

Very sorry to hear that life has been doing it's stuff Rob. Empathise with the situation regarding parents....experiencing some of that. Hopefully things will get better and the build will get back on track.

Rob,

sorry to hear of that although tbh it's part of cycle of life (my mom is 89 and 300km away so worried when she starts getting in and out of hospitals...)

compared to your "proper" job, this change sounds very good and promising!

Looking forward to progress reports and pics on the new business and hope that when JFM sees the light and decides to get himself a proper D speed boat and realises none fits the bill he'll come and help you design the perfect 80ft steel trawler :D

cheers

V.
