Fender Baskets

Yes,

But that depends on how much storage room you have and if it is always full. Always have a set on my boat, because fenders are V, bulky and have little value. They look neat and tidy in the baskets and as long as you possition them right they should not get in the way.

Both answers are correct. I fitted a set so that the Crew didn't have to climb along the side of the boat from the cockpit carrying the fenders as safety was an issue. HLB has a point that they can restrict visibility but as I have a sports cruiser and mostly stand up at the helm, its not a problem. I fitted them as low as I could too so they are not much higher than the rails. 4 baskets and all fittings for just under £100.

Look great too with all the fenders in even though I get teased by other bertholders about my rocket launchers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, I have. And speaking of rocket launchers....

And yes the yotties have renamed my boat the MTB /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sprint have limited storage and narrow side decks so the 4 baskets I fitted solve several problems. Aesthetic impact is IMHO much altered by the colour of the fenders vs the topsides, white on white obviously tends to have less obvious impact than dark fenders.

Dave's are blue-tipped therefore only practice rounds /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif white war rounds much more acceptable /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Fender Baskets - alternative

Fender baskets are quite practical, but aren't very aethetically pleasing, are they? Not really. Lots of boat ads in the mags, but hardly any feature fender baskets on the foredeck, whereas loads of them feature scantily-clad wimmin on the foredeck.

So! I reckon it would be MUCH better to stash some Scantily Clad Wimmin on the foredeck and dispense with fenders (and fender baskets) altogether. As with fenders, you'd need 6-8 SCW's of course, all about the same size and not too old over under/over-inflated. Much better.

I have walk round decks instead - just haul them in each time /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and walk forward on the other side until anchored when they get chucked over again (to keep GC1 honest)

perfect!

You can see that there are only 7 on deck tho - i presume the other one already is dangling over the side at far left of pic in readines for return to port...
