Popped down the marina earlier in the week to drop something off on the boat and take away the tube heaters. Had a wander down the pontoon to where my last boat is still berthed just half a dozen boats away. She's looking neglected and very sorry for herself which weirdly is quite upsetting considering I have nothing to do with the boat these days. I may have to move within the marina so I don't have to look at her
 
I can relate to that. One of my previous boats was destroyed by fire a year or two after I sold her and I was heartbroken, all those years of care and attention wasted - weird or what
 
I remember when you had her up for sale, she looked fabulous and was a definite good buy for someone. If I recall correctly you didn't need long to sell her as she was exactly as described and well maintained mechanically.

I then remember seeing her on the hard at shamrock quay last May, already looking neglected by the new owner, like you say very sad.

You should move to b pontoon, there is a vacant berth next door to me ;)

I've been lucky in that regard. I am on 4th boat. 1st went to brixham, stayed in touch for a while but then I saw her in Cardiff. Had had a new floor and upholstery inside, new nav and generally been looked after. No 2 was bought by an occasional forumite and went north, but he enjoyed her. Boat 3 was bought by Jergen who has pampered her to a rediculous extent - hoping to see her this weekend to see what eh's been up to!
 
I can imagine how you feel gary. Like Elessar, I've been lucky. My 1st Sq58 was close by me when owned by owners 2 and 3, both of whom looked after her really well. Owner #4 took her to Turkey last summer and it was quite sad seeing her leave Antibes port never to be seen by me again, 9 years after buying her. (The same broker sold her on all 3 occasions and looks back happily on the day I first walked into his office to ask him to sell her - he's a good guy, Jonathan at PowertoSail). My 2nd Sq58 is still with owners #2 and I see her around often. They love her and keep her in great shape

Will be down Friday night but out on the pop, if you do come over on. Saturday make it after 10 lol
 
Thats a shame she is looking sad, I still have a soft spot for her and used to follow her new life with you with interest. Does she get used much?
 
Gary, I thought the owner popped up on here occasionally? Or did I just make that up?

My old Sunline is up for sale again, the current owner did not keep her long.

and your 42 is about 10 ft from evenstar. Went to a party on her just 2 weeks ago, she is used almost every week by current owners who look after her well.
 
Interesting that someone would spend several thousands on a boat and then ignore it. Not as though it's zero cost to do so, being sat in a marina.

Gary - is it the case that she's was moored up at the end of last season and not touched since?
 
I know the feeling.

I was in Alcudiamar late 2012 and for old times sake walked down the pontoon to see my old boat, it looked very sad and unloved, still had old covers on that needed replacing when I sold her (I knocked a bit of money off the sell price to allow for that).

I felt quite put out seeing her in that state.

Ah, goodo. That's a full house of "well looked after" for my previous boats then! New owner had a major service done on her recently (shafts out) so I hope she's all going well after that. She was a good 'un when we had her, as opposed to a "Friday afternooner". I still have her logbook here from 1999-2003 :-)
