I have a tried and trusted list of spray can type lubricants that have served me well over the years. But I accept that the list may be getting a bit long in the tooth now, I would change if I could be persuaded that there were better modern alternatives so what have you got in your armoury?

Here are my Old Faithfuls,

1. Heavy duty corrosion / truck underbody etc. - Lanolin heavily applied as used by Outback Australians.
2. Light duty general corrosion (lawnmowers etc) - Duck oil unless I can find a bargain. Waxoyl as heavier back up.
3. Bare Aluminium - ACF 50.
4. Seriously seized - never found anything better than genuine 'Penetrating Oil' - Forget the WD40 type lightweight alternatives.
5. Underwater grease - does what it says on the tin.

And always in the bag - a tin of Water-Finding paste.

What about you?

+1 on ACF-50. I use it on all hidden places and underneath my car and motorcycle.
For all other surfaces I use Yamashield anti corrosion spray. Leave a non sticky/greasy surface.

About 30 years ago a colleague told me that PlusGas was the best desiezer. I have a can of it but haven’t run a comparison with other products. Deisel is always said to be good.

Tef-Gel has its adherants. There are more economic labels than Harken.

Lanocote, too..... or the 'Pound Shop' variant - wipe your parts down with a fresh-run sheep!

I used plus gas on some stainless steel bolts in the aluminium masthead. Kept soaking the bolts for a week and eventually got some movement and the bolts out. I was expecting to cut the bolts and drill new holes.

I've been using Contralube on electical connectors for donkey's years. It's exceedingly good. Luckily I've still got at least half of a large tube left, bought before the price rocketed, that will see me out.
