I fancy changing to one of these. I like the TAMD's and shafts (had them on the S48) - used ones look good value for money. I did hear the turbo whine was intrusive? Any other reasons not to buy? Comments very welcome, thanks. (PS accidentally also posted in The Lounge - ignore)

I loved mine, I would have bought another except MrsA wanted a flybridge.
straightforward mechanicals, good access especially with the garage floor out or raised up a bit
great if it gets a bit lumpy
only bit of a negative is the U shaped cockpit seating is a bit wasteful space wise, but no problem getting 4 around. 6 is a bit too friendly unless someone uses one of the stools from the saloon.
tender garage very useful - if you need to buy a tender you will need to look around as tenders have got fatter over the years. Later models of the T43 have better tender access with lift ups bathing platform and rollers built in. Mine was a 1999 with a fixed bathing platform behind the tender garage. I put dinghy wheels on the tender - problem solved.
the teak is a veneer on plywood so not overly long life if it hasn't been replaced with something already. The swim platform and rear steps tend to go first. The cockpit area is usually OK as its more protected. The head linings by now may be getting saggy - very easy and cheap to re-do though. Just keep that in mind when looking at possible examples.
you can hear the engines under way but I don't recall turbo whine being an issue.
If you can go for it.

With ref to the OP and turbo whine:-
My Beneteau has got D4s with superchargers and turbochargers ... anything above about 10 knots you have to shout ... the thing is like a boombox and only slightly better with the roof slid back ... its days are numbered ... :encouragement:

I’ve got one and love it! It does everything as it should and feels like a ‘proper’ boat! Excellent sea boat, safe, surefooted, easy to handle, very economical, the list goes on

Just throwing in an opinion. They are lovely looking boats. Very solid and I really like the cockpit arrangement. There was one on the hard opposite mine the other week being prepped for the season and it looked very very nice.

Thanks for the responses - I am pretty sold on the T43. Right now, the timing is not quite right - we have to sell a property first to release some capital. The B.C.U. One (itsPauls), has high hours at 1900 - perhaps not a lot for the engines, but high for a pleasure boat, and that could be a negative when selling on. Also SWMBO is not sold on the "unusual" upholstery (sorry Paul!), and that is probably the most important consideration!! Again, thanks for the comments, it certainly looks like it will be our next boat.

You don't hear it on the flybridge
