Failed survey

Man I know fell in love with a Broom 1070 on the Thames which had been up for sale for some considerable time.
Made a couple of long round trips to view boat and then made time for broker to view his boat as part of a deal.
Went up again for a quick test run on boat, problems with turbos.
Finally went up to yard for when boat lifted for surveyor.
The bottom of the boat is covered with fibreglass pox.
Both seller and broker express amazement of the sudden appearance of blistering.
No meeting of minds regards cost of repairs so sale collapses.
Prospective purchaser says goodbye to lift and survey costs and other expences.
Somebody knew !

All very fair points and I consider it a lesson learnt. I'm too trusting in a persons good nature.

My list of wants in a boat if anyone has a few suggestions for me?

Budget of £75k max
Ideally no loner than 35' (mooring costs)
4 berth or more in 2 separate cabins (privacy)
Diesel (Economy)
Shafts over outdrives (servicing)
Bow thruster (on windy days)
White hull (fed up polishing)

This one is owned by the Chairman of the company i work. Ive never seen it in the flesh buf from the conversations we've had I'd say it's worth a look.

Really , you could do a lot worse than a windy , great sea keeping proper quality build and a hard top .

I agree Paul -- great boats. We looked at some several years ago and whilst you cant fault their quality the hard top was a bit low for my liking and felt a little claustraphobic, with the view out of the windscreen being a bit of a 'letter box'. Enough for us not to buy one but that was personal preference as oposed to anything else.

There is a nice Bavaria 34 in jersey 2011 but over budget a cheeky offer could do

I hate that phrase 'Cheeky Offer' that has crept into life recently...…. In my world it should be called an insulting offer. If I received an offer which I considered to be so, I am afraid that would be that with that buyer. I would refuse the insulting offer and any other offer they made no matter at what price...… Just be fair and honourable

Be aware if a boat is in Jersey it may not be tax paid which could add a further 20% to the cost should you bring it to the uk. Not always a bad thing, I purchased my boat from a jersey resident which was not tp. It was the best one available so I just dealt with the tax (well dealer did) and bought it.
