could two men take it off and put it back on, on the marina jetty ,ie how heavy is it any one done it ,cheers SS

so the boat is leaving burton waters on Wednesday ,but wont know if the arch has to come off until it is measured on the lorry .I really hope not

I recently made an enquiry re moving a boat and asked the shippers for the maximum height and they were able to tell me. This is based on the height of the trucks bed + height of chocks plus total height of boat. It is the shipping company that should be able to tell you, I'm not sure Burton Waters would know unless they have asked the shipping company.

Jeez Roy, Burton Waters and the shippers should know the answer to this. You shouldn't need to ask us.

It’s hardly up to them to know the size of everyone’s boats, all the transporters I have used have asked me to provide dimensions of my own boat so they can see how it fits their trailer, they have a rough idea from experience but that’s it.

Leaving it until its on the truck might be a bit late. If in doubt would it not be safer to have the arch removed in advance.

The shipping height of boats is well known. Removing the radar, GPS, etc is not a straightforward task. Removing an actual radar arch is a significant task. Find someone to truck the boat who knows what they are doing.

I do use someone who knows what they are doing and that person will have the sense to ask dimensions, the shipping heights of production boats are well known but doesn’t take into account any changes made by owners etc, why does everyone expect to pass their responsibilities on to someone else ? I transport many things for my my business and it’s always the customers responsibility to provide shipping dimensions, if you can’t then pay for someone to provide them, as I said it’s not up to the haulier to know everyone’s boat dimensions.
Some of the questions asked on here are scary and makes me wonder how some people are safe to go to sea.

Agreed, I asked the question of the transport company, "what is the maximum height the boat needs to be for you to transport it?" This information they should be able to provide. I then made enquiries as to what the height of the boat I was or may still be purchasing. It is then for ME to make sure it is within those parameters for collection. I didn't get to the final answer as I discovered that it was not that much more expensive to move it by sea and I would gain the invaluable experience that I need. I calculated the quote to move the boat + cost to lift in and out + employing someone to drop and secure the radar arch (not confident enough to do it myself) and then to reinstate at the other end.

It's very likely the boat was taken to Burton waters by road so I'm sure if you arrange with the same company to move for you they should then know the height and what needs removing.

Roy, my boat arrived with the radar arch down. It wasn’t a big job putting it back up. The cables just needed to be fed in carefully, no disconnecting, and it was just a few bolts. No idea if yours is the same though. Make sure the fly bridge screen is removed if there is one, one stray stone and what is probably a custom and hard to make piece of glass/Perspex is ruined.
