Why? Not sure I agree with that. The motion is much better in an aft cockpit. You are closer to the waterline and further away from any spray.
In theory there is less motion in a centre cockpit boat especially going to windward when a boat will pitch more. However, lots of small centre cockpit boats have a high cockpit which means you get more roll effect. I dont think you can generalise over aft cockpit vs centre. There are so many different designs about. Some of the open aft cockpit boats would concern me in large following seas and some have very little shelter from the elements with sprayhoods that only keep water out of the main hatch. There are good and bad designs in both types of boat for long distance cruising. One mans meat is another mans poison
