hi all now the boat has a new heart we need to get it out in the water :p
the boat is stored in Exmouth and the main slipway is closed due to cracks found in it last year :confused
does any one know of anywhere else in the area that I can use, I only have a car not 4x4 to use so it can be a problem
thanks
ian

how big is the boat pls ? There are some informal ones in Shelley Road, and also Camperdown Terrace ?

its a 18ft maxum bowrider with inboard engine
the one on shelley road is very tight and metal posts down the sides and camperdown is 1-2 hours each side of high tide depending on height of tide

I've launched from the slipway at the Recreation Ground with a twin axle trailer and a 21 ft Merry Fisher. The launch was fine and the slipway sound from what I recall but there wasn't a great deal of depth of water as we came around towards the marina from there- had to tread carefully. I also seem to recall that we had to collect a key from somewhere to lift a height restricted bar at the entrance and that was the biggest hassle of all. I Think there might also be limited access, maybe a couple of hours either side of hgh water, as it dries out in this area. All in all though it was ok, if timed right.
Hope this helps.

There are slipways at Topsham and Lympstone, but they are very restricted on tidal access. The ones already mentioned in Exmouth are far more likely to provide reasonable access.

thanks for all your help we are down the weekend and hope with the better weather we can get out to try the new engine

will we did get out on sunday and had a great day dropped trailer off and pushed in to the water to get the boat off and then push trailer back in to load the boat and then towed the trailer on a rope to the slipway before hitching the trailed on the car, apart from the wheel spin on the sand on slipway all was good. but i must say its very tight between the wall

Which slipway are you talking about?

It will be Belchers down onto Shelley beach. It really is very tight. The main slipway is closed till next year and the large slip off the recreation ground is mostly closed due to work on the sea wall all the way around.
