How about some good news?

I bought my mast from Z Spars but only recently installed it on my boat. It happened that the boom was a little too long and did not clear the back-stays. This was due to my measuring rather than Z-Spars.

Z Spars kindly sent me some monel rivets so that I could re-rivet the boom to the front casting after shortening it. There was no charge for the rivets and they were obviously posted on the day of my phone call.

Later I needed two additional fiddle blocks to go at the foot of the mast. Naturally they were not FOC but they were posted on the day of my phone call and arrived 2 days later.

Needless to say I am delighted with this service.

Pleased to hear of good service but not many of us on MBC will have cause to use masts etc.

Suspect you've posted on the wrong forum!

Re: Bastards!

I would have expected better than this. It is dreadful what the marine industry is coming to. It would be much better if, instead of selling you an olde worlde (and wrong-sized) mast component, they had suggested that you cut your losses, dump the old sailing boat and replace it with a nice new-technology powerboat! After all, engines have been available for almost a century. In other retailing induistries, such as computers or cars, for example, anyone would go potty at a supplier who didn't suggest a more appropriate solution.

It certainly sounds as though you have been done over by these dreadful z-spar people - small wonder that they tried to keep you quiet by sending along some more gubbins free of charge hoping to get you to make the wretched thing work - and *again* made no suggestion at all about the idea of a powerboat.

Also, the fiddle blocks sound very dodgy. Did you get a VAT receipt ?
