I would have thought they should last longer. I have a pair of 1980 TAMD 40As and I've replaced one of the elbows in the last 3 years (the clamp holding it broke, hence it came away and the casting crumbled at the mating face when I was cleaning it up), but to my knowledge before this time they were both original.

Why are you replacing them again. Have they just corroded or leaking in some way?

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul
Thanks for your reply what happened was I was getting some leakage of fresh water from the filter cap on further exploration we discovererd a partial blockage in the copper pipe that go·s into the bottom of the manifold. So we took the manifold of to clean it out, and we found that it was holed on number 4 exactly the same place as last time "seemingly thats always the case" the difference bieng last time the water got into the exaust port and and I had to replace the exaust valve
and have the port built up on the head. Anyway this morning we dismantled the other one fully expecting it to be the same as they were fitted at the same time to my suprise and delight its still well servicable So I only need one I realy cant undertand how they havent both went together but not complaining
