Hi does anyone have experience of using the diagnostic package that goes with a diesel powered Hydronic 5 ? There is an interface unit that you can purchase to plug into the unit to get diagnostics and software for your pc to complement it.

Any help much appreciated

Edith is the Eberspacher one, Ebay stuff though it half works will not have factory service bulletin access and software upgrades when needed, Webasto Thermotest performs similar functions but the Ebay clones of that are junk. From a user point of view you are better off with a diagnostic control unit.

The unit I found was not off eBay it was from an electrical wholesaler. The problem is even if I buy one of these units and install the software if the software gives me 'code 45'. I am no better off until I get a sheet of paper with the codes / likely cause of failure on it.

Can you tell me more about the diagnostic control unit ?

just buy the 7 day timer on ebay for £45 ( used) either install this as your main control or take off the wiring to a socket so you can plug the 'timer' in. Download the manual with the codes.

Like I said in my earlier post, not much use without the factory buletins and updates (web downloadable manuals are far from compete), also as I said in my earlier post and reinforced by another post, as an end user you are better off with a diagnostic timer / controller, the codes are incomplete and a bit nebulous but good enough for most fault diagnosis.
